The author of this work has felt that there is a place in the intermediate high school, where a course that will sum up the arithmetic of the grades, and give some insight into the coming mathematical problems of algebra and geometry, might be of use, especially if this course is linked up with the work in mechanical drawing, manual training and elementary surveying, so that the student may see the application of the mathematical theories that he is studying
